This is a great opportunity to own one of the earliest universals known. in the Thomas Edison papers Thomas Edison stated that he personally did final adjustments on the first 1200 or so made
And it seems that there were around 5000 made. This ticker was found in a back storage closet by a western union employee in the 60s working in Michigan. all original even the paper roll and ink rollers are all as found western union decal on front still is about 85% complete. Custom made mahogany pedestal shown in pictures is included as well as original glass dome and reproduction dome for display. email or call for more pictures or to discuss further.

In 1934 the 5A or"black box" ticker was introduced. In the crash of 1929 earlier machines were not able to keep up with the high volume . The black box was considerably faster at a maximum output of 500 characters per minute !
The 5a was still being used as late as 1966 at the Pacfic Stock Exchange.
This machine that we have was used in the 50's in New York at a illegal gambleing house to receive sporting results. The FBI closed them down in 1961! $1500 SOLD
